Is the system telling you that "restricted drivers" are available? What graphics card are you using? We need this information to try and help you.

integrated Intel 3D Extreme Graphics

Can you look in Synaptic and see if there is an updated driver for Intel graphics? There should be a way to fix this problem. :mrgreen:

Synaptic is listed as "Package manager" in the menu. The "Refresh" button is in the top left of the application.

I am running a similar dell and I have not had any problems with the display. When you run the live cd is the display OK?
