1) For most users it is unnecessary to install anti-virus software
3) Yes, Linux distributions will recognize added RAM after installation. It is important to note the recognizable RAM limit for 32-bit and 64-bit operating systems

Re: Few questions :)
hehehe if only 2 GB ram then stay in 32 bit
if more than 4 gb then you have to go to 64 bit (if your cpu is 64 bit, otherwise ....)
about anti virus, you dont need it, if you use wine to run windows apps then you should have anti virus, but even without antivirus your computer wont die
at least not that easy like XP Vista 7 and whatever
max you will have to reinstall your computer ^^
jesus wanted to recreate the world ^^
about ipod i have no idea but i think it will work for you
ubuntu and mint are strong, you know ^^
if it doesnt work then you have to go and ask, or wait for a bit till someone solve that problem.

Re: Few questions :)
Generally, if you have 4 or more GB of RAM and you want the operating system to be able to use all 4GB, then use the 64-bit edition.Beny101 wrote:I only plan on installing 2gb of RAM so will be able to stay at 32-bit right?
You can install 32-bit on anything, but it will only use around 3 Gigs of RAM maximum - even if you have 4GB RAM installed.

Is there a way of seeing what Prosesser I have?
And how hard would it be to install a new one for some one whos knows a bit about computers? Of course with Google's help.
Open a terminal, run "cat /proc/cpuinfo" and you will get all the information about your processor.

Out of interest I tried that command.
Got the message that no such file/directory exists.

Re: Few questions :)
About that antivirus thing...
You don't need antivirus for your computer. Your unenlightened Windows friends might appreciate you having antivirus as you can still pass on a virus even though your machine won't be affected by it.
Of course, if they are infected, maybe you could pull a linux convert out of the incident.
