pygtk help!

Postby emorrp1 on Fri Feb 27, 2009 4:36 pm

I didn't like the way mintUpload uses saved plain-text passwords in its service config files, so I've implemented a fix to prompt for passwords, but the dialog box isn't drawn with a border in my new version. I've tried to understand the glade/pygtk setup, but I can't seem to enable the window border. Can anyone help?

mintUpload v2.1 is in the community repository (implemented ssh/sftp/scp support) now, and works fine as far as I've tested it.
my edited version for the passwords is available from: http://www.srcf.ucam.org/~pem34/mintupload-2.1.tar.gz
NB you'll need to edit line 437 of mintUpload.py to point to your download location.

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

Have you contacted the community repo gang? :)

We are grateful for the contributions there
Oh - you can't have the download location hardcoded in python :)

ok, thanks, will repost on the mailing list.

Not sure what you meant by you can't have the download location hardcoded in Python. The line I pointed out needs editing is just to make sure it uses the "new" version of the glade file, rather than the installed version (which is "hardcoded" to /usr/lib in line 294)

This undoubtedly looks like a hardcoded location :)
I have not read the script :)

1st you shouldn't have to edit the python code after install.
Any updates will over write this.
It should be in the services file, just like ftp.
2nd there is a newer package in the community repo with ssh/sftp access.
This is the latest package so you'll need to get with the other 2 working with mintUpload here.
viewtopic.php?f=148&t=22629
This way you all have the latest package and code.
3rd thanks for the time spent working on this.

I agree with the no post-install editing, this is not ready for release, I just wanted to keep the installed and in progress versions separate. When it is ready I'll remove the reference to a download location, as it'll just use the new files installed into /usr/lib. This version detects an absence of a specified password in the services file, and compensates by prompting for a password, sorry if I wasn't clear in my original post. I am aware of the new package, as I uploaded it  !
