Finding out version.

Post by mipcar »

I know I'm running Mint 6, as I installed it... However is there a way to display what version your system is running? Or do I never need to know what version as it will be automatically updating itself anyway.?

Open Terminal
Type cat /etc/issue

I don't know how it works for Gnome, but for KDE if you access the System Settings, it will display the versions of kde and the kernel.

Tried that, it tells me it is an unknown command.

Thanks,
Eventually found it. Just had to hunt a bit harder.. In gnome it's under System Monitor.

So it tells me I have Mint 6 Felicia (which I knew) and Kernel Linux 2.6.27-7-Generic Is that the current version? And Gnome 2.24.1 also current?
