I just installed Mint 6 on a Laptop but cannot obtain desired resolution. The OS is up to date.
Laptop specs
* AMD Mobile Sempron 2800 (black chassis)
* 15" XGA 1024x768 Display
* 1256MB DDR400 RAM DDR400 PC3200 DDR 200-pin SODIMM
* VIA K8N800 Chipset and Onboard VGA (AGP 8X, 3D Capable)
* CDRW/DVD Combo Drive
* 40GB Hard Drive
* 4 x USB 2.0
* Integrated 10/100 Mbps Ethernet, 56k v.92 modem
* Mini-PCI Wireless 802.11G
* Weight 7 lbs
I am seeing an icon telling me to adjust resolution but it does not work.
Seeing:
Unknown
800x600 (4:3)
61 hz
Detect display does nothing
Help is no help. No information.
I would like 1024x768 60 hz. I was able to adjust resolution on my desktop but not the laptop. Thanks.

Re: Laptop resolution
ermm, is it onboard video? or an agp video card?
two different things..
either way can you obtain a model number for your video card? that way we can tell you how to install the needed drivers.

Re: Laptop resolution
Take a look at the first message. It is a self contained laptop. All the specs are shown.

Re: Laptop resolution
I am going to contact the seller, Gigastrand, and see what they say because they advertise Mint 6 according to their site.
I will post the results.

Re: Laptop resolution
Ok, here are some results. I can trim it if you can tell me what is the only part that is for video.EKMA wrote:Lexon,
It doesn't say what chipset the VGA (graphics) is? Is it onboard Nvidia or ATI? I sounds like the drivers didn't load properly...someone correct me if I'm wrong..............

Re: Laptop resolution Solved
I solved the resolution issue. I just use Ctrl - until the screen resolution is what I like.
