What is the best way to automatically backup and store that backup file to a network location?
Thanks,
Keith

Re: Automated Backup
I give up what is the best way? Sorry I could not resist.
Here are some ideas (that may be as potent as asking which Canadian Hokey team is the best):
http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.p ... 116#p81104

Clonezilla
Acronis
FOG
rsync or grsync
Personally I don't know what the best is. I've used Clonezilla and Acronis but not for scheduled backups. The Linux Action Show has video / pod casts that compared so of these utils.

Re: Automated Backup
Thanks! And you are correct. I should have just asked for automated backup program suggestions. Not "The Best"!

Re: Automated Backup
I was using Simple Backup Suite in Elyssa/Hardy. It is available in the repo's. It seems this package does not work with Mint6/Intrepid. I have started using a package called Back In Time. It is working out really well. You can schedule backups and locate the backup location anywhere on your network.
Re: Automated Backup
Where did you get Back in Time from? I tried it from http://www.le-web.org/back-in-time/#repository and the repository did not work for me. It just gave 404 errors.kwisher wrote:I was using Simple Backup Suite in Elyssa/Hardy. It is available in the repo's. It seems this package does not work with Mint6/Intrepid. Re: Automated Backup
I downloaded the two deb packages. I did not add the their repository until I read your post. I followed the directions from here http://www.le-web.org/back-in-time/ under the section titled "Ubuntu Hardy & Intrepid repository". When I did a apt-get upgrade my installed version from the deb packages was upgraded.
