Google Earth problem

Post by jpnelson82 »

Not sure what to do with this, I've tried many times to install GoogleEarth for Linux. I can get it to install and run. In fact it works well on my Desktop, but on my laptop which is a Dell Inspiron 1150 2.6Ghz Intel P4M with an Intel 82855gme graphics card running Linux Mint Felicia xfce version I cannot make out the data it displays, there are no lat/long, or elevation, etc, etc; furthermore instead of "United States" it says "Un t d St t s" how can I fix this? btw, Compiz is off.

Ok, apparently this is a well known problem with the intel 82855 graphics card and i915 driver. I was a bit surprised that it didn't work with Wine either, oh well at least it works at all guess that's worth something.
