Re: problems after install
for hardware problems you could consider mint4win installed on and co-existing with windows if all else fails.

Re: problems after install
Grub Error 17 huh?
You may want to take a look here: http://www.iknowkungfoo.com/blog/index. ... b-error-17
In this guys situation, he had an external USB HD that caused his computer to see things differently, try to load up a live-CD and see how Linux views your partitions. You then might want to edit your /boot/grub/menu.lst file to correspond with that.
Otherwise, you could try disabling all other hard-drives other than the one Linux is on, see if it works. If it does, use the HD's jumper settings to master, then change the other two HD's settings to slave.

Re: problems after install
kris69, this looks like a device naming issue. It's hard to tell without seeing how your partitions are listed in /etc/fstab, and how grub is pointing to these partitions. Take a look at this how-to on our wiki: http://www.linuxmint.com/wiki/index.php ... annot_boot

// edit // and here's some reading on sound issues reported in intrepid that may help (there is mention of a kde 4.2 solution in a link
