External Drive

Post by anthony2010 »

Hi all.

Running Mint 6 KDE and I think its nothing short of brilliant!

Now, I have just one slight prob and that is, I cant write to my external drive. I notice Gparted isnt in this package so Im guessing theres an alternative way of doing things. I have posted this problem in the Newbies section on the regular forum but was unaware there was a specific KDE forum. Hence double post.

Any Ideas all?

Hi Anthony,

You can install gparted from the comman line, pop open a terminal and type:

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get install gparted

If you've been using your external HD in a Windows machine you have to use Windows' "Safely Remove Hardware" option, otherwise your Linux machine won't recognise it correctly.

Hi all.

Downloaded Gparted and remarkably, without clicking anything other than asking it to show me the drive ( which it did) it now works!

The KDE is a great desktop.

Thanks Boo and everyone for the help.
