No 2-sided Printing in Xerox WorkCentre C2424 [Solved]

I had the same problem with an HP Printer. This process is actually easier with an HP because the "PPD drivers" can be downloaded directly from synaptic.
But here's what I've found:

Go to http://www.support.xerox.com/go/getfile ... oad&uType=

and download the "Linux CUPS Printing Package" to a safe place. It's a set of Linux CUPS drivers published by Xerox. It will have to be extracted so double click it.

Start the Mint Printer Configuration Utility again and it will ask you about drivers. Select "Provide PPD File". Then you need to point it to your download location. It will open up the folder and you will find a list of all xerox models. Select the one for your particular model and that should be it.

well. i am sorry but i don't understand the solution - ie. i haev an hp printer, and i installed the ppd fles from synaptic (hp-ppd and hpijs-ppd), but nothing happens when i want to print dušlex.

can someone help with little bit more detail?

What model HP printer.

Have you tried the "alternate method" ?

Open Terminal
Type sudo hp-setup
This brings up a small applet and will eventually ask what driver you want to install. I chose the one that starts with
dvr:///hpijs.dvr/hp-deskjet_970c-hpijs.ppd

I had an HP970 printer and for some reason this worked when the Mint Printer Utility failed.

i have an all-in-one c3180 printer/scanner/copier. it works great, except the double printing. i tried what you suggested, installed all the apps and the driver and now i have the same printer installed twice. no problem, but when i try to print a 2 page document double sided no matter if i choose flip or standar duplex - it just prints the document on 2 sheets- without giving me an option to turn the sheet arround like i remember from windows.

what am i doing wrong?

I am sorry that that didn't work out. You could try one more thing and that's get the driver straight from HP:

It's going to be the hplip driver not the ppd driver but I did notice that the Mint version is at 2.8.7 and the HP version is at 3.9.2. That might make the difference.

I've never had to go to HP directly but the howto seems easy enough. You might want to delete the two other instances of your printers or at least rename them before you start with this method.

nope. the install works great i now have a nifty little applet telling me how much ink i have left and mucho other goodies - but for the life of me i can not get the duplex to print.

duplex ---> set to short or long edge
ok
ok

prints 2 page document on 2 separate sheets with no pause for flipping the page.

i have also set printing options in Common UNIX Printing System 1.3.9 on http://127.0.0.1:631/...and nada.
