What is proplem with GoogleEarth and Ubuntu and Mint?

Post by leegold »

Hi,

I've been having trouble with GoogleEarth on all flavors of Ubuntu including Mint Xfce 1.0. The app starts for about 5 seconds then stops. I have tried the usual rememedies but would like to try again if anyone can help. It is quite frustrating and causes me to use windows when i need this app and limits the Geographic Info Systems applications of Ubuntu - quite frustrating...

Here's output of terminal trying to start it for the 1st& 2nd time:

We apologize for the inconvenience, but Google Earth has crashed.
This is a bug in the program, and should never happen under normal
circumstances. A bug report and debugging data are now being written
to this text file:

/home/gold/.googleearth/crashlogs/crashlog-14ACD9D7.txt

This bug report will be sent to Google automatically next time you run
Google Earth. Its data, which contains no personal information, will help
us correct problems without bothering you further. If you would rather
this info not be transmitted, please delete the above file before running
the program again. If you want bug reports to NEVER be sent, remove the
above 'crashlogs' directory's read/write permissions.

i see the thread but I do not know how do it or try it.

If you tell me how to get the "bin" file then I'll put the "bin" file in my home folder and try it.

BUT I will need a way to completely reverse and clean out the whole thing if it does not work. Even if it does work there might be some "house-cleaning" to do.
