Hi mshilling - did you try compatibility mode?
You have a nvidia card and quite a few of them don't like the open "nv" driver
Press any key when the Live CD counts down
The only setting in BIOS I dare recommend without looking into it is the one to select primary video - if it exists

That said I don't know if W7 is special in some way that might affect grub, Vista is different from XP but the same lines in grub can be used, and I know other members of the forum that have W7, so....
