Biance Gnome - Mint Disk Issue

Post by JohnH »

G'day folks,

I've just installed Bianca on my brother-in-law's laptop; dual boot with XP.

Mint Disk is not recognising the XP partition. Any clues?

I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling but no success.

Regards
John

check: mintmenu --> preferences --> mintDisk
to see if ntfs is ticked.
and good info there. (like don't put ntfs partitions in fstab)

G'day Boo,

Yep I tried all that mate. No luck.

Where does mint grab its info from? Is it /dev???. Maybe the permissions are scrambled.

it may get it from fdisk of cfdisk
try:
# sudo fdisk -l

see if you can see your ntfs partition.

BTW I just remembered I haven't checked my dual boot laptop. LOL

My laptop auto mounts the 2 ntfs partitions on gnome.

Some time ago I got into problems as I didn't realize that any occurence of a partition in fstab stops minDisk from mounting i.e. even if it is commented
