Did you try Compatibility mode?
If my memory serves me right you find it in Elyssa when the live CD counts down - press any key

This is very enlightening, but unfortunately it does not help"udevd-event[1555]:run_program: '/sbin/modprobe' abnormal exit"
udev is the device manager in the kernel - it handles dev(ices) (like /dev/sda )
modprobe is the part of the kernel that loads modules (like udev)
When I google for "run_program: '/sbin/modprobe' abnormal exit" I find a lot of Toshiba laptops so there seems to be some component used by Toshiba that the kernel does not like
The solution I have found is to use
all_generic_ide
as a boot option
You select Compatibility mode and then add this to the line you see at the bottom like described in the troubleshooter

Many Toshiba users have installed Mint successfully, but I don't know about your model
