Hi there.
1. Did anybody manage to prepare an USB startupdisk using a netboot mini.iso?
2. Is Mint supporting mini.iso at all?
3. Why is it not possible to start the USB disk creator with a mini.iso?
THX

No, Mint does not have a mini.iso
Please remember that the team is small, we can't do everything (even if it would be fun)

Re: USB startup disk with mini.iso ?
It seems to me, that the mini.isos are a great step forward.
It is just 10MB big. Can't be very much in there.
In the end you'll avoid - let's estimate - 30% download traffic and time, since you'll skip the first mega-update after installation of a standard iso.
If you'd implement a flexible packet selection during the installation, you'd even be able to strip down your installation quite easily.
THX anyhow. Keep up your great work.
Cheers

Re: USB startup disk with mini.iso ?
Unfortunately if the mini.iso is a "stub" used for downloading packages the download traffic will increase substancially
An iso is in our case (not KDE) about 700 MB and contains some 2.3 GB uncompressed data
If that is to be downloaded as packages it is uncompressed so instead of 700 MB you end up downloading 2 300 MB

Re: USB startup disk with mini.iso ?
Didn't know that. How about compressed download from a repo?
Re: USB startup disk with mini.iso ?
a 700Mb iso file is about 2.2 ~2.3Gb in reality.
can't beat that for compression., without going to DvD,s.
so, it's probably the best, for now, as there isn,t much else to use when downloading stuff.
