System tray size.

Postby NumNuts on Thu Apr 23, 2009 3:54 pm

Hi,

I installed Mint6 KDE on my laptop. Wow, it truly is a thing of beauty, a huge thanks to all involved (and my wife said I had trouble expressing myself!).

I've been playing with the panel and I've managed to get the system tray to fill all the spare space in the panel. I can't get the tray back to its default state. Can any one help.

I'm not sure at all but you might find it in Right click the panel > Panel Options

Thanks for the reply Husse.

I've tried adjusting all the settings I can find, but nothing works.
I can move the tray but not resize it. If I delete it and reinstall, it just fills all the available space again.

Its a minor irritant but I'd like to try and fix it.

Thanks

The tray in KDE4 is different to what we are used to
To be sure - what do you mean by tray
You have an area at the clock and a different looking area with things like the network manager - which one?

Its the one with the network manager.
I can't remember how I got it to resize, I think I was just moving it at the time.

I have seen this before and what i had to do was recreate the whole panel and layout.
the size of the size of the system tray is automatic.
i wounder if you have a widget on either side if this will fix it.

Hello again,
Six months down the line and I've done it again. The same problem but now its the system tray and the digital clock.
The clock is ok however the date is huge and fills all the space left in the panel.
I can't figure what I've done, all I was doing was adding a couple of widgets and moving them round.

Also, you can right click on its edge to get a hold of the System Tray Settings menu, from where you can select icons of the running apps you want to be auto hidden. After you’ve made your selections, the size of the system tray will get shortened, and the left side of the tray will display an arrow pointing left, indicating you can expand it in that direction.
