OK. Done. The problem was caused by my installing an Ext4 partition.

I can't get wireless working, using a Fujitsu-Siemens Li1718 laptop which has the AR5007EG chip.
The bug is reported on ubuntu bugs here: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+sour ... bug/346690
There is a fix, details here: http://www.ubuntugeek.com/new-madwifi-n ... ranch.html

So I guess I'm wondering whether the new madwifi trunk can be included in the final release? (No idea of the technical issues involved, I'm afraid).

Otherwise - Linux Mint is great, and I'm recommending it as widely as I can!

Tim.

Sometimes, when Mint starts up, my keyboard doesn't work. I have to restart the computer, and then it works fine. I know for sure its not a hardware problem (checked in Windows).

I can't find the hp-toolbox. (hplip and the other packages was automatic installed and the printer, a HP2610 works fine.)
Hp-toolbox does not open, even if I try with the terminal window:

sven@tuxina-mint ~ $ hp-toolbox

HP Linux Imaging and Printing System (ver. 3.9.2)
HP Device Manager ver. 15.0

Copyright (c) 2001-9 Hewlett-Packard Development Company, LP

under certain conditions. See COPYING file for more details.

warning: Qt/PyQt 4 initialization failed.
error: hp-toolbox requires GUI support. Exiting.

:(

[Solved] The solution was installing hplip-gui!

I got an error twice with Brasero trying to make a Data Project of a single compressed file of 4.2GB for no apparent reasons so I ditched Brasero for K3B

Just found a weird thing happens on my mams PC when I logout, it takes a few seconds to get to the Login/Out screen but immediately a small error pops up saying Could not authenticate or Authentication Failed (I'll check later) and when you press Ok it just pops up again.
There's also three periods in the text box behind "..."

This isn't a bug with the distro per say, but with the Gimp splash screen, you're using the wrong image I did. You should be using the 2nd image I submitted :P

I have a bug when powering up with battery only on my Compaq f759wm laptop. It takes quite a long time. I'm not sure if it will even boot if i let it. With the AC adapter plugged in it works fine.

When the screensaver has been activated for a while it suddenly disappears and the work-screen shows up again. Without I have done anything.

GStreamer defaults cause locks in certain gstreamer applications :

Because GStreamer defaults (Multimedia preferences) to ALSA Input, any gstreamer application that respects these defaults (amsn svn for one, but I'm certain there will be more as time goes by) will hang indefinitely waiting for input, as pulseaudio has claimed the input. Irritatingly, it's a blocking call, which is a bit of a problem when it comes to detecting such a hang.

The GStreamer defaults defaults should be to pulse as that's what we have by default running.

Terminal in MintMenu launches gnome-terminal instead of the "Preferred Applications" terminal choice (in my case terminator).

P.S. Apologies if this is a double-post, I'm certain I mentioned this in the mintmenu thread, but it seems to have vanished! Perhaps the net dropped as I submitted.

[EDIT] x-terminal-emulator seems to be an acceptable freedesktop way to open the preferred terminal, which should work with the preferences of the running desktop. I'm not sure if this is the preferred way, but seems to work.

Another bug which comes from Jaunty. I have an Epson RX620 (an all-in-one printer and scanner): the scanning application (flegita) does not recognise that I have a scanner. But when I run it as root the scanner is recognised (identified as an Epson PM-A870 - that doesn't sound correct to me, but it works). I know there is a work around somewhere (although most instructions I find no longer work as they depend on configuration files no longer present), but I would be delighted if Linux Mint could fix it.

This is the terminal output, if it helps anyone.

Code: Select all

Re: Linux Mint 7 RC1 Bug Thread

There is a shared Ubuntu-Mint problem with Nautilus not showing desktop icons, places, mint-desktop items, etc., that also won't let you right click on the desktop. There are some posted work-around solutions involving gconf-edit and clicking "show desktop" in the apps>nautilus>preferences, but that didn't work for me.

In order to solve this, I had to do an apt-get install nautilus and reboot.

Not sure why it happened, the only thing I had really mess with was added Emerald and removed Blue Tooth.

Getting an error message when trying to run update-grub that /usr is broken ..... . That command will work the first time but after updating ( up till todays updates ) if you try to run it again you will get that error message. It's easily resolved by changing the permissions on /usr/sbin/update-grub however this was also present on mint 6. Hopefully it will be fixed in mint 7.

Code: Select all
option rfc3442-classless-static-routes code 121 = array of unsigned integer 8;

Code: Select all
rfc3442-classless-static-routes, ntp-servers;

I have removed above lines from /etc/dhcp3/dhclient.conf & my internet is working well. I did this because I don't find those lines in Felicia. But finally my internet is working. I don't know how long it will work. One more thing I don't know is this a solution or not! So if anyone can then please let me confirm.

Hi kansasnoob,

No I had not installed hplip-gui, But NOW i have! And now hp-toolbox works as I hoped it should do!! :D
I have always used Suse with the KDE desktop before, and I can't remember I needed to install that. Perhapes it was included in some sort of automatic addition there?
In this fantastic Mint release I didn't do anything at all - all printer packages was installed automaticly. :D
Thank you very much!

I must say, it was a lot of qt4 packages installed! I think it was 14 packages added when I installet hplip-gui. After that it came an uppdate adding 23 more qt4 packages! I think that was rather heavy for only ment installing the hplip-gui?

So far so good, but gnome-do key and the menu key are the same, and mint update is not working like before (mint6), I just can update, it goes gray, and dont do anything.
