Well Nuts, Parallels 2.2 is a no-go

Post by penguin7009 »

Hi all and thank you for this great place to use and discuss Mint  I tried to get Parallels 2.2 to compile on Mint but continue to get the error message unable to install drivers.

Also there doesn't seem to be any kernel headers listed in adept. Not sure what the problem is but without parallels Mint becomes a hobby os for me :(

Pitty, I sure do like it, its fast and the network and DVD player worked out of the box. If any one has been successful at getting Paralles to work, sure would like to know about it and how you did it

Have you tried the Mint-specific installation guide posted at the Parallels forum?...

Hi all and thank you for this great place to use and discuss Linux Mint. I have installed LM final and really love it

Unfortunately, I still have a problem with Parallels 2.2 compiling. The following is the output of the error message:

Fame is a vapor; popularity an accident; the only earthly certainty is
oblivion.

This might not be the problem, but, from what little I read at the Parallel forums, you need to have bash as your Terminal command processor (Bianca defaults to dash).

Go Terminal and enter...

Code: Select all

sudo bash
rm /bin/sh
ln -s /bin/bash /bin/sh
exit
Now try to install your software.

You can go back to dash as your command shell processor anytime with...

Code: Select all

sudo bash
rm /bin/sh
ln -s /bin/dash /bin/sh
exit
------
Locked
