on http://www.pendrivelinux.com/linux-mint ... ll-via-cd/ you have a short tutorial on how to do it for Felicia and basically,
you have to "sudo apt-get install usb-creator" to do this.
In other words, what you'd like is for Gloria to come with this tiny application which is a good idea!
I hope they'll add it
What did I do wrong lol?
I have in my Home Folder a folder I want to share so I right-click on it, go in Sharing Options, I check Share This Folder & Guest access.
Now if I go on my little brother's laptop with Windows installed on it, I can access my shared folder without problems.
When I go on my big brother's pc with Gloria RC1 installed on it, I can't access my shared folder. Here's what I get Unable to mount location
Failed to retrieve share list from server
EDIT: I'm able to access the folder now after I've rebooted the other pc
@ jojo
This BADSIG error should be noticed by everyone not just one person - right now I don't know what it may be
Clem reads this topic so let it be for the moment

I found unetbootin worked with Mint Gloria but usb-creator didn't!
Both are available in Synaptic in any case.
Edit: I gave usb-creator another go and it worked this time, nevermind!
BopNiblets wrote:I'm also having problems with mintUpdate!
The startup one
/usr/lib/linuxmint/mintUpdate/mintUpdate.py
doesn't show an icon, but mintUpdate on its own or from the menu does.
Also, another bug I see is "User will login in ** seconds" still shows in the login screen even after I unchecked Enable Timed Login.
I tried it with different values and it still shows up when unchecked, doesn't count down, just stays there.
Not at all sure this is a bug! Twice out of 50+ start-ups I've had the system "hang" forever right after X starts.
The mouse pointer shows far left, about centered from top to bottom, and things just stay there forever.
I finally have to hit Alt > SysRq + b (no point in running reisub because nothing else has mounted) and the system reboots and all is fine!
Just thought I should mention it, I've not experienced the same behavior in Jaunty.
Something you should know is that I'm running a Hanns-G 22" monitor w/1680x1050 native resolution, but due to my poor visual accuity I use 1440x900, so the monitor always "stalls" (and displays that it's readjusting) for 10 seconds while it's readjusting!
Using 1680x1050 requires that I increase the dpi and fonts to where things are simply distorted! Like lines overlap on many webpages!
The kids hate using my computer because my settings always look "cartoonish" to them!
Hi, sorry if this had been mentioned. not sure if its my system or the release.
when i first installed RC1 i was apt-get ing the programs i wanted (i only use the command line, i don't like the gui updaters/installers) and it told me that i should use apt-get autoremove to get rid of loads of un-needed packages. i did this, blindly, trusting the system and it removed half my system.
I corrected it by doing apt-get install mint-meta-main but now it is telling me yet again that i should uninstall this huge list of *un-needed* packages!!

If I go at the mint menu, and type in the filter in my language a word of a name of an application which is in my language again, it cannot find it, although I can see that I am writing exactly the same word.
same thing had happened to me.
nothing changed when I typed names in some other languages. (chinese, japanese, korean)
it seems filter works fine only when the input starts with an alphabet.
On the Italian version on the mintMenu for the "All the application" label I see "Toutes les applications" instead of the correct "Tutte le applicazioni".

One more bug also that has to do with other languages, is the size of the popup window that is opening when you want to terminate a program. What I've noticed with Pigdin is that the buttons became bigger because of the size of the translated words, but the size of the termination window has not increased accordingly so to fit the buttons that are now bigger. The result is that a part of a button and some text of the confirmation message are not shown. Is this Mint's fault, Gnome's fault or Pigdin's? (again tested in greek, yeap we have big words )
