Hi,
I need a Jaunty based Mint on my new laptop because of graphics card support issues in Mint 6.
If I install 7 RC1 how seamless will the upgrade to final be? Will I only have to do recommended updates and end up with final, or will I at some point have to do a complete reinstall of my system? I know I could do Ubuntu, but would not like to have to move away from Mint.

The Mint 7 stable release should be out in the next few days.

Why not wait instead of having to upgrade?

I agree with Aging Technogeek. If at all possible, you should wait for the final release of Mint 7.
Current hardware: a Dell OptiPlex 3010 desktop, a Dell Inspiron 531 desktop, and a Dell Inspiron 1545 laptop.

I have used Mint "for ages" and would have to use Windows on my new laptop until Mint 7 final is out. I do not know how to use Windows anymore and was hoping not having to move all my stuff from my old Mint laptop to the new one running Windows and then move it to Linux after Windows is removed. I may have to keep using the old dying laptop hoping Mint 7 is out before it totally craps out on me! I have tried Ubuntu 9.04 live on the new laptop, so I know Mint 7 will work.Aging Technogeek wrote:The Mint 7 stable release should be out in the next few days.

So please get Mint 7 out the door!

Re: Upgrading from Mint 7 RC1 to final.
I installed Mint RC1 some time ago. I did all the updates meanwhile. If I look at the info file in /etc/linuxmint, it tells me I have release 7, Gloria, Main Edition. Does anyone know if my RC1 version has been updated to the final release already? Or is there another way of upgrading to the final release?
