How to update from 7RC to 7 release ?

Post by Eucalyptus »

Hi,

Q1. How do I know the exact Mint version on my computer? I installed Mint 7rc a few weeks ago. Ran MintUpdate manager a couple of times. May be the system is already updated to Mint release, how can I check?

Q2. In case the Mint version I have right now is still 7RC. Can I upgrade to 7 Release by using the CD (and how?)

Thanks in advance for any help.

When you boot/reboot your PC the grub loader screen will tell you what version you have installed. To update, launch to update manager, click edit>preferences. Select update method then check 'include dist upgrade-packages' click apply. It'll check for updates, if none are listed you should already have Gloria installed, if it does list update just click install updates.

Job done.

Mark.

Could sudo apt-get dist-upgrade achieve the same purpose?
