Compiz rocks

Post by NiksaVel »

Hey... just wanted to let you all know that I have installed Compiz for the first time and I have so far not had a single problem...

Beryl on the other hand had all kind of funky behavious... from messing up my suspend/hybernate to periodic total freezes at heavier system load... it drove me crazy..

So far no problems with compiz... seems pretty much the same thing with a bit less stuff... but I'm using the default installation and settings..

As of now I am recommending Compiz to everyone.
Wonder what will have after the reunion...

Windows is extremely fast after a fresh install. If you want to make it stay that way: - don't use it.

On my system it's the other way round: compiz gives me completely black or completely white screens ... And the current release of Beryl I am using (version 2.5, snapshot r4338) works perfectly

Make sure you've got the Compiz "Extra" package. This adds numerous configuration options to the compiz-tray-icon applet.

When Cassandra comes out, there'll be Compiz 0.3.6 and Beryl 0.2.1 in the Feisty repositories, as well as nVidia driver v9631.

It's not the newest system as you can tell  ... but enough for my purposes 8)
