25 highly anticipated open-source releases

Post by professorsnapper »

from ComputerWorld - Mar '09 article:

Some of these oughta go onto the software portal when they're released, for sure! On the above link, there's heaps of cool stuff (incl. one called DimDim, which I'm personally pretty keen to test out).

While on the topic of software to keep an eye on:

Google Wave: next-gen email

(NB: the Lifehacker blog has heaps of interesting software & tech-related releases - heaps of interesting links off this page - http://lifehacker.com/tag/bigpic=true/p ... refId=1160)

Qutecom: open source alternative to Skype
almost at version 1 (been on RC3 a few months now)

I am really looking forward to Firefox 3.5--Mozilla Weave is a major improvement over Foxmarks (now Xmarks).

Will look this up - I hadn't heard of it before... thanks for the heads-up.
