Repair file system manually: solved

I am having a boot message about a File-system error telling me to CTRL-D to carry on and to repair my file system manually.
I have installed a distro on my other sata drive but as far as I know haven't affected the LM partition or drive at all.
Where do I start with this?

Make sure you're using /dev/xxx in your /etc/fstab instead of UUIDs. If you've upgraded to feisty and kernel 2.6.20 update all occurences of /dev/hdx to /dev/sdx.

Finally you can run sudo fsck /dev/xxx on the partition which is causing problems.

I changed all of the entries in /etc/fstab and it boots fine again.
