[Solved] Multimedia apps - thank you all for your help!

DeVeDe and K3b are as good as any Windows apps. They don't have the whistles and bells of commercial programs like Nero etc., but so what? :)

VLC is the catch-all player for multimedia content, but it's not known for its pretty interface. If it's editing software you're after, you may want to check out Ubuntu Studio.

For watching multimedia file I suggest VLC. Its interface is not attractive but you can download some skins to change it.

For burning CD/DVD, you can use Brasero or Gnomebaker. Both have simple interface and are easy to use.

You can also use DVD Shrink and DVD Decrypter under Wine. They work fine.
