Oh god dont change the logo to a boring flat circle, its bad enough Fedora is losing its iconic infinity logo in favor of what look more like a deformed letter P then something iconic like its old logo.

This movove to flat boring uninteresting icons is a plague that apple started.
Apples old rainbow logo was nice to look at and made apple feel uinique.

Now its black boring and flat:

Then there is the windows logo once colourful, bold and dynamic:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_7 ... -_2006.svg
Now its just a bunch of boring boxes:

Whats next the Debian logo just a square?
Tux just a pile of bricks?
Stop rainbows with iconography!

I agree with MadmanRB. We live in a colorful, 3-D world. Not a flat and b&w one.

Hey everyone, I made up a mockup design for a logo as an alternative, what do people think? It's a halfway between the new design and the old design.

Yeah far better than a boring featureless circle.
Honestly I blame apple for this "material design" crap, its boring, featureless and everything just blends into eachother

Actually Google invented Material Design.

I think the main thing which could be cut out of the old logo design is the white border around the logo. That prevents the logo from working well on an all white background, since the white border doesn't show up. But with a few tweaks like I did with my design, most of the original 'spirit' of the old logo can be kept while still improving how the logo looks at different resolutions.
Re: Monthly News – February 2019
I actually like very much the new logo proposal, as I like material design.
However, I believe it would be difficult to please everybody, and I think it is a trivial detail. If one does not like the icon, it is very simple to replace it...

I do not care for the modern flat look for the new Mint logo with it's featureless circle. Boring and unappealing as month old stale bread. I like MadmanRD's colorful designs as alternatives.
On a side note, I tried the modern flat looking Mint-Y themes in 19 (and in 19.1) and just do not care for it. I reverted back to the Mint-X themes that were the default in the previous 18 versions so I hope Mint-X themes will not be dropped as an alternative in favor the flat looking Mint-Y themes from here on out.
