Pulse audio can't add 2nd sound card

Post by hairybiker »

I am trying to add my Logitec Music Anywhere USB transmitter to my Mint system (Gloria 32bit) it works fine in my other desktop (Ubuntu 9.04 64bit)
When I plug it in I get:-

Code: Select all

Jun 20 14:14:14 Duo kernel: [173600.297969] usb 1-2.4: new full speed USB device using ehci_hcd and address 18

Jun 20 14:14:40 Duo pulseaudio[23487]: main.c: Called SUID root and real-time and/or high-priority scheduling was requested in the configuration. However, we lack the necessary privileges:
Jun 20 14:14:40 Duo pulseaudio[23487]: main.c: We are not in group 'pulse-rt', PolicyKit refuse to grant us the requested privileges and we have no increase RLIMIT_NICE/RLIMIT_RTPRIO resource limits.
Jun 20 14:14:40 Duo pulseaudio[23487]: main.c: For enabling real-time/high-priority scheduling please acquire the appropriate PolicyKit privileges, or become a member of 'pulse-rt', or increase the RLIMIT_NICE/RLIMIT_RTPRIO resource limits for this user.
Which would suggest that I need to be a member of pulse-rt to get it to work.
Question is WHY?

I have added myself to the group but not logged off yet as I have tasks running that I don't want to kill, so will update this after I have logged off/on again and see if it works.

Now no error from pulseaudio but no sound out on the music anywhere either, and it is not appearing in the pulseaudio manager screen as a device.

As an aside I can't get audacious to play either, it just sits there, no error if started from the command line.
