Creative live notebook pro webcam
My Creative webcam worked perfectly with previous versions of Mint, with Gloria no luck! model is VF0250, installing GSPCA driver doesn't seem to help. Thanks in advance for any ideas....

Re: Creative live notebook pro webcam
Do you still have an earlier version installed or the live CD laying around?
Boot into it and if it is a USB device run sudo lsusb -v (l is a lower case L) and post he section about the cam
If it is connected directly to pci run lspci -vvnn and post the section about the cam
This way we can see what driver and kernel module it uses
You could compare with the same under Gloria - post the appropriate section as well

Re: Creative live notebook pro webcam
The cam might not be supported by UVC - it's not found on the projects homepage
Furthermore I find that there are several versions of this cam - or rather several cams under the same name and some may be supported while others are not

posts #22, 23 and 24 talk about tweaking the colour of the webcam etcThis is a guide or tutorial for a all newbie like me out there who does not know anything about linux and wants to install logitech Quickcam E2500 on linux openSUSE (Skype, aMSN, Ekiga).
1-Download the latest stable driver
1- go to v4l-dvb: Summary
2- click on "bz2" on the top of the page and wait for the download to complete.
3- Extract the file in the desired location.
2- Install the driver
1- Enter the file you extracted.
2- Right-click --> "open in terminal".
3- type in the command
Code:
sudo make
(note: "sudo" runs the command as a root user so you have to enter the password and press enter)
4- wait for it to finish.
5- type in the command
Code:
sudo make install
and wait for it to finish.
3- Connect your webcam and restart your computer
The webcam will work with Ekiga, aMSN and Skype. Enjoy
Re: Creative live notebook pro webcam
Hi many thanks for the information, I have tried the build from the package but still no joy. Any thoughts on what I could try next?
Re: Creative live notebook pro webcam
From the Italian Ubuntu forum I got this (modified for Gloria)
apt install subversion
In a terminal (of course enter after each line)
svn co svn: / / rastageeks.org/svn/ov51x-jpeg/trunk webcam-driver
cd webcam-driver
sudo make
sudo make install
sudo modprobe ov51x-jpeg
There were several people in the thread and it solved it for at least one of them - my Italian is just google
