IR port on Acer laptop

Post by lewispm »

I am trying to use the IR port on my Acer Extensa laptop for something useful. It looks like lirc supports my remote control, so I'm interested in getting this thing working.

I don't recognize a listing for it on lspci (below), but there are a few on there I don't know about.

If its not detected, am I out of luck, or is there something else to try?

IR controls is way out of my league
Perhaps you can find something useful on the lirc homepage
And you are right it is not found
To be absolutely sure do

Code: Select all

sudo lspci -vvnn
It may appear "deep down" in the result and to make it work I guess you may have to use a special chipset driver - which in effect means a custom built kernel
