Hello,
I left my running Mint Gloria for two hours. The screensaver was fixed at 1 minute. After one minute he showed an empty window. When I returned and moved the mouse, the system was alive and the crt showed the green Mint background without any icons or taskbar. It was possible to move the cursor, but nothing happened. After one minute it went dark again. It switched on after pressing any position on the keyboard.
Then I booted the system. What can be a solution?
Regards

Re: Screensaver blocks the system
Hmm, could be a configuration issue, or even a graphics driver issue. What are your screensaver settings?
Re: Screensaver blocks the system
My screensaver settings are:
Blank monitor after 10 minutes - no screensaver activate if user is idle - energy administration no switch of monitor
There were no problems with the nvidia graphic driver.

Re: Screensaver blocks the system
I'm sorry I have no idea what's going on, and it doesn't seem to be to do with the screensaver since the settings don't match up, but it is periodic, anyone else have any ideas?
Re: Screensaver blocks the system
How about a snapshot of the screen saver settings, since I don't have those settings on Linux mint V7 - gloria edition
Turn off the screen saver and see if the system halts again or goes to sleep or is suspended
acpi or power settings, do you have any power saving feature enables as you might if you were using a notebook ; have you installed any laptop type system setting
I don't know whether your system is a desktop (which wouldn't need any power saving options) or a notebook

Re: Screensaver blocks the system
According to his last post, the Activate when idle is off, effectively disabling the screensaver/DrHu wrote:Turn off the screen saver and see if the system halts again or goes to sleep or is suspended
Re: Screensaver blocks the system
Why I asked for a screenshot, sometimes when we look at something we don't really see it..emorrp1 wrote:According to his last post, the Activate when idle is off, effectively disabling the screensaver/

Re: Screensaver blocks the system
Since i was connect my lcdtv with hdmi cable i have a similar problem, but i was tested it and the problem is not the screensaver, but the blank monitor option. Cant come back from there.

Hello,
I must withdraw these doubts against Mint. The reason of these freezings were problems with a hdd. I changed it and there is no more freezing.
