Noob needs help installing apps n' stuff
I need a bit of help... I tried downloading Snes9x and a few other apps and tried to install them but I am having some trouble... I am aware of mintInstall and synaptic but not everything is on there that I need. What is the file extention for linux executable (like exe for windows)? help needed here

There is no single file/file type,metroid_maniac wrote:What is the file extention for linux executable (like exe for windows)? help needed here
--depends on the application, sometime it is a shell (*.sh) script, sometimes a filename that is marked as executable by the application
Snes9x is available in synaptic..
--user guide should have enough info about this

Generally 3 methods
- Use the repositories and the package manager for your Linux distribution
--add repositories to get newer apps or for single applications that are not generally available for your kernel verion - Use a source file, and compile & install
- Propriety software, eg windows apps, require an interface method, like wine or a VM to enable you to run them

Re: Noob needs help installing apps n' stuff
I found Gnome Snes9x, and ZSNES, in mintInstall. What parts are you missing?
