mintMenu icon

Postby kandieyman on Mon Jun 29, 2009 10:08 pm

Is there a way to remove the buffer around the mintMenu icon? I remove the text and use a custom icon, but I don't like the empty spaces on both sides of a standalone icon.

Also, I recognize this isn't the correct forum for this, but I do not think that I have used Mint long enough to make development suggestions, so if anyone agrees with me could you please let me know:
This is the feature request. When choosing a custom icon, automatically scale the y-axis pixels to the size of the panel. Currently, I have to scale the icons every time I want to use a new one.

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

It's automatically adjusted when you remove the text - so no spaces
It's not very often you change the icon for the menu - or do you do it on a daily basis?

I change it maybe once every few weeks, and I understand that the area used by the text is removed when you remove the text, but the area for the icon alone is still padded. Here is a screenshot of my mintMenu icon:

(Let me put my post in context. I have used Fedora for a year and Ubuntu for 4 years. I am used to the standard Gnome Menu that does not have any padding around the icon, changes the brightness of the icon during mouseOver and mouseClick, and automatically scales the icon to the height of the panel. I would simply like to see these features incorporated into mintMenu. As far as the padding is concerned, since some people seem to be okay with it, I would be happy with a settings option to customize the amount of padding... These are only suggestions, but I am new enough to the Mint community that I do not want to make them official feature requests myself.)

OK I get you
mintMenu is different and the basic layout is the slab menu of openSuse but this might be possible to include - or not :)
I'll add it as a suggestion
