Thanks

--check about:plugins on the location/address bar in Firefox to see what is enabled
But it is just as likely that it wont work especially for web sites thast expect to see only Microsift or MAC connections..
--like vreel

I got impatient waiting for the buffering to finish (caching the movie) to see if it would play, so I can't tell yet..
There is supposed to be a divx plugin already installed in Firefox under mint..

--I got Patience, but even at a fairly fast download rate of 500-1000Kbps, the files are big and take a long time to buffer the entire contents before playing, so unless you have a really good high speed connection, you probably have to be looking for a down-loader that can grab the videos without using the embedded plug in method..
screenshot from vreel using embedded plugin, I tried the mozilla.mplayer and disabled the gecko divx plugin in Firefox, but probably either one works, if I give it enough time
--Oh the image quality is good..

Re: Mint7 - DivX in Firefox
Thanks for your help, I get the "Waiting for video" message, but didn't realise it was trying to buffer the whole thing. I thought it just wasn't working.
I also forgot about the addon:plugins menu. I was looking in Edit:Prefs:Applications and when I couldn't see DivX in the menu there, I assumed the plugin couldn't play. I've just realised now though that it could possibly come under .avi anyway.
