Stupid Mode:solved

Post by addr »

In trying a Gnome distro with gnome-ppp I have found out that my ISP connects first time in Stupid Mode (and takes two goes without it)
How do I add............Stupid Mode=1............ to KPPP?
I can't find where to edit it.
Thanks

Stupid Mode

Post by nick »

Hi
Have not got dialup now, but always used to have this trouble with early Suse's
it used to in /etc/wvdial.conf, set: Stupid Mode = 1, or in etc/resolv.conf stupid mode=yes

(by memory)
Hope that leads somewhere

Thanks Nick. I tried them both but no noticeable difference.
Any way I could get gnome-ppp to work on this KDE system?

Stupid Mode

Hi
I run Bianca, (gnome) but I immediatly install KDE on it (I dislike Gnome :) ) I just looked in menu, and gnome-ppp comes up OK
There is nothing to stop you running any Gnome application under KDE, but installing it "may" install a lot of Gnome, depending on application
Try it

I downloaded gnome-ppp and set Stupid mode....oh man, what a difference!

It probably takes me twenty seconds to get a connection instead of three minutes.

Thanks for all your help
