In terminal,

should tell you.

http://www.linuxmint.de/ is an official Mint site, but honestly I thought we had closed it :)
It was used when we experimented with podcasts and other things
mintUpdate does not upgrade your system, it updates it
We will soon have an automatic upgrade built into mintUpdate
