Vertical scroll on a Fujitsu Siemens Lifebook S7010D

Post by p10 »

I have been unable to get vertical scrolling on my Fujitsu Siemens Lifebook S7010D for as long as I have been running Mint on it. But yesterday I all of a sudden could scroll. I had not made any changes to the setup, so I thought that it had to do with some of the recent updates to Mint 7.

Today everything is back to normal. No vertical scroll, but now that I know that it is possible to make it work, I want to find out how to make it work!

Now, cat /proc/bus/input/devices gives me this result:

It would seem like Mint does not recognize any thouchpad. I do not think my touchpad is a Synaptic, but rather a ALPS. This is because I also have a Stickpointer on my keyboard.

Any thoughts?

EDIT:
Downloadet tpconfig and ran sudo tpconfig -i in a terminal, here is the result:

Code: Select all

Found Synaptics Touchpad.
Firmware: 8.96 (multiple-byte mode).
Sensor type: unknown (0).
Geometry: rectangular/landscape/up.
Packets: absolute, 80 packets per second.
Corner taps disabled; no tap gestures.
Edge motion: none.
Z threshold: 6 of 7.
2 button mode; corner tap is right button click.
It would seem I do have a Synaptic touchpad afterall...

For some reason vertical scrolling just started working again, like yesterday.

Did a quick cat /proc/bus/input/devices, giving this result:

As you can see, I now have the synaptics touchpad listed. And the "generic mouse" settings have changed.

Can anyone make sense of this sudden change??
