maybe your ports are restricted? I have the same thing at work... with any IRC client... since IRC uses port 6667/6668... but all my extra ports are closed due to company policy...

Windows is extremely fast after a fresh install. If you want to make it stay that way: - don't use it.

I think we've seen you logging in and out in the irc channel a few days ago. At least I think the nick was mbangia
If you're not behind a restrictive firewall there seems to be a problem with your internet. Do you have a reliable internet connection? Some "odd" ISPs do strange things, so you could be filtered out at thet level to.
I don't think the error is in your system.
