ADDING ADDITIONAL hARD DRIVE to EXISTING INSTALL

Post by TOMMYBOY1 »

Greetings
I am new to the Mint OS and just installed it under Windoz XP on a backup computer w/ a 478 pin 3.4gig P4, 2 gig Ram, and 2 legacy HD's. So far so good and everything i would hope for but I then tried to add another HD w/ a pci expansion card then I reboot No Joy, While the C drive of XP is recognised Mint cannot mount shell. i AM CONSIDERING A FRESH INSTALL. but would prefer to avoid the nuclear option. This is a great OS if only Magic Jack Phone worked in Linux I'd never have to look back. Any ideas ?

So you installed using mint4win? Why are you using a PCI expansion card? Can you explain your setup a little more clearly. Basically, drive setup and partitions. I see no reason why you would have to redo everything, but we need more info.

Sorry I'm new to mint. mint4twin? The pci card is for the3rd hard drive. The ide slots on the mobo are being used for the first 2 hd's and the optical drives; it is not new and has quite a few ntfs files on it including an old winxp install and at least 2 partitions. When I plug the HD into the card. mint will not boot. I can't see why I'd have to do another install either except that my experience w/ windoz tells me it solves myriad issues. Thank you for your reply T
