College Student with Linux

Post by shortcut144 »

So I am going to college with a linux laptop. Past semesters I have had windows loaded but I am excited to be using Linux instead.

Anyone know of any linux programs I should get to help aid me in my academic college adventures?

The usual office productivity/planner applications + any software related to your courses..
  • OpenOffice suite , all the parts you are likely to use
--Calc (spreadsheet) writer (word processor) Impress (presentation), DB
  • Sunbird, the stand alone calendar
--If you need project management software, those are also available..

Linux windows equivalences..

I really recommend GnuCash for personal finances, and python if you want to learn programming and vim is the greatest text editor around
