DVD-player

Looking for an good DVD player. For my HP pavillion. Uses Ubuntu but consider to switch to Mint.
VLC didnt work on my pc, under Ubuntu.
Freeware of course...
Anyone know, things about this?

Mplayer is Quite good.

VLC doesn't work for you? Hmm you should explain more because it's a very good player with usually no problem.

As player you have e.g. MPlayer, SMPlayer, Totem, GXine (I like it)... You have the choice. :D

I had the same issue with Ubuntu 8.04. When I switched to Mint 7 problems went away. I can use VLC and Movie Player with my desktop and Acer Aspire laptop.

First off if you guy are new. In Ubbntu you have to install the restricted files first to play dvd's ie... libdvdcss2 and win32 codecs. In Mint it will play dvd's right out of the box. You can use synaptic package manager and search for ubuntu-restrictd-extras and install it and then it should play dvd's. Vlc should work right out of the box in Mint.
