turning firefox 3.5 into chrome-incomplete, need some help.
Hey! For those like me who like some of the features of google chrome but dislike the instabilityof the current linux ports (AKA Chromium), this is for you. First things first, you need to update to firefox 3.5 if you haven't already (the themes won't work in firefox 3). I think you can do this right now in synaptic, but the update didn't wok for me there. I'm sure i did something wrong, but regardless i'll suggest how i did it: with ubuntuzilla. There's a link to the forum on that here:http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.p ... 8&p=173187. After that, you'll need to download a few add-ons: First, let's get the theme. Go to the firefox themes page, then search Chromifox Extreme. There's a few different color schemes, but I went with the original color for authenticity. Then, head over to the add-on page and install these: Speed Dial. This add-on gives you a similar function to chrome's most visited feature on new tabs. Unfortunately you have to add them yourself, but it will still work in the same way. Then, get CyberSearch. This gives you better in-browser search capabilities like Chrome. My two questions: Is there a way to get rid of the google search bar (you don't really need it with CyberSearch), and can you diasble the awesome bar feature? I don't like it very much.

What do you mean?Is there a way to get rid of the google search bar
And please note that the ads in the custom search in Firefox is the major source of income for Mint to pay for servers etc.

I didn'y mean the custom search bar, I meant the one right by the browser.

OH - you mean the one in the top right corner
I find it very useful - a search is only Ctrl+K away
Check over at Mozilla
I don't know but Firefox is highly customizable

It's not a big deal-I just don't need it if I have certain packages.

Yes, unless you do still want any kind of bookmarks to be available!
