The most common fix for no sound is to max the PCM level in the audio settings.

George1391,
more than likely you have to modify the file ( root/etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf ) on most laptops I have installed to, the sound driver is not configured to work with it, but with modification it will work in most cases. For the excact modification for your laptop, try searching ubuntu fourms ( http://ubuntuforums.org/ ) with your laptop #, make & model as well as " No Sound " in the search line. Ex: TOSHIBA TECRA No Sound

I searched the fourms & found this fix, mod, read here ( http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php? ... A+No+Sound )

if that does not work read here the Comprehensive Sound Problem Solutions Guide
( http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php? ... A+No+Sound )
Please read the entire section before you mod your alsa base.
Hope this helps,

George1391,
Good to see you got your sound working, glad I could help.

For other sound problems & issues , I have posted a " How To " in the fourms & asked for the community to add to the section, so that hopefully
IT will become a good resource for sound problems.

It is  Here ( http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=42&t=32293 )

Thanks,
