[KDE 3.x] CD/DVD Label and Lightscribe Programs

Post by rec9140 »

I am interested in what others are using on the KDE side for the labels in this thread:
http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.p ... 7&start=30

My normal label program is the "Sharpie Label Creator System" aka ME! :)

Also would be interested in any one who has the Lightscribe support for K3B working. New system has two drives with Lightscribe support and I would like to take advantage of it.

Thanks!

rec9140,

You can download the HP Lightscribe software for Linux here:

http://www.lightscribe.com/downloadSect ... index.aspx

Just be sure to install the system software package before you install the Simple Labeller package.

For the labels in the referenced thread you will need the LaCie 4L labeller. You can download the .deb package here:

Just download to your desktop and use Gdebi package installer to install it.

I am after two things:

1) Actual PAPER LABEL printing of the labels in the thread.... What program for Linux to print on those CD label sheets?

2) As for the Lightscribe I'll have to look at that later.... as I am not real fond of lacie.

This also works for the Gnome version of Gloria. The HP site also gives you the terminal commands to install the system software and the Simple Labeller, for those who prefer to install from terminal instead of from double clicking the package to use the gui installer. On this HP dv6119 laptop I installed the system software from terminal and the Simple Labeller and LaCie labeller from the gui. Everything worked as smooth as silk straight from install with no tweaking required.
