Hi,

you may want to read this article maybe: http://www.pcmech.com/show/os/917/1

As for your list ...
jett wrote:photoshop
I don't know what it is that people see in PhotoShop, I find GIMP far better suited to my needs. But then again I am using exclusively Linux since 1996 ... And somehow I survived without PhotoShop
jett wrote:along with games dont work
Did you try Cedega? http://www.transgaming.com ... It even works with some newer titles, speed is OK. I myself have a minimum Windows XP installation somewhere on a partition which I use from time to time for games; I don't use Windows XP for anything else. Besides I am considering to buy a Nintendo Wii or a Sony PlayStation3 ... or both. So gaming on the PC is not that much of a topic if you use consoles anyway ...
jett wrote:and linux is missing alot of applications
I definitely don't think so!

Jashaka, http://www.jahshaka.org/
kino, http://www.kinodv.org/
CinePaint, http://www.cinepaint.org/
Cinelerra, http://heroinewarrior.com/cinelerra.php3

It should be noted that some of those tools I mentioned above are available via "apt-get install ... " or synaptic; some others need to be downloaded and compiled manually as the writers don't have the time to create packages for all the many Linux distros.

adobe dreamweaver replacement
You should talk to Adobe Inc. and tell them to make native Linux versions of their closed-source commercial applications. However, both applications you mention up there should be able to run via CrossOver: http://www.codeweavers.com/
And there is the Flash for Linux project ... I think they are still too new and haven't got any downloadable package yet. In order to get their software you'd have to use CVS (just follow their instructions): http://f4l.sourceforge.net/ ... And here are some nice screenshots: http://sourceforge.net/project/screensh ... p_id=87799
jett wrote:swf3d prelacement
What's that??
jett wrote:netbeans ide c++
What do you need that one for???? I may be wrong, but I think it is available here: http://linux.softpedia.com/get/Text-Edi ... 2029.shtml

There are tons of other IDE's in Linux. Eclipse for example, that can handle most stuff a programmer would need. Maybe you could take a look at this list here?
http://linuxmafia.com/faq/Devtools/ides.html
Many if not most of the free development tools that are listed there are available via synaptic. The commercial closed-source ones have to be purchased and downloaded from their makers' websites, obviously.

... just to list the best ... and besides, just to mention that there is a Linux version of RealPlayer in case you did not know
jett wrote:google earth
HA ha ha ha! Good joke
http://earth.google.com/download-earth.html
Besides, if you put the right repositories into your /etc/apt/sources.list, you can easily download GoogleEarth via synaptic
jett wrote:if im wrong and you guys know replacements for these,
Quod erat demonstrandum!

But hey, if you still like Windows XP better, you're of course free to use that (you have a license, right? :D ). Nobody forces you to use Linux.

Hi scorp!

You're absolutely right :D
But thanks God, some million people will always stay on the M$ highway... otherwise we would be obliged to find a lobotomy software running under Linux... and that would be much more difficult!!!
Had a very big desire to troll... I sincerely apologize for this... I swear, usually I am not a bad boy
But seriously, is it so complicated to accept - sometimes - that things are done to be learned and that it is better to have some reflection before acting :?:

Like someone really uses this??

However, on Linux you can record anything on your desktop into a SWF file. In other words: If you can display it somehow on your screen, you can also record that into a SWF file. That's pretty much the functionality you describe, except that this comprises the entire desktop (single windows possible too if you know how ... but I am not going to waste my time explaining that to you now ... ) and not a specific file format:

http://www.linux.com/article.pl?sid=06/09/18/1349218
http://www.unixuser.org/~euske/vnc2swf/

There is even a dedicated program, "ScreenKast":
http://sourceforge.net/projects/screenkast

And before you ask:

Free 3D rendering software for Linux:

http://www.3delight.com/
http://www.blender.org/

Commercial 3D rendering software for Linux:

AutoDesk Maya

jett wrote:yeah i dont there is an alternative for this one.
As I see it you just come here again and again to complain again and again why you can't use Linux and why Windows is "better" and you keep asking for alternatives of software you probably aren't even using yourself. 3DS Max ... tssss, give me a break! That piece of software alone costs way over $3000. You're not gonna tell me that you have a legal license for that one?? Same for some of the other apps on your list. You're just trolling around I guess?

And besides it would help if you wrote complete sentences in proper English and not spam the forum with your half-sentences. Can you focus on that?

Ciao,

Scorp123

[ EDIT --- added screenkast to the links above ... ]

As a matter of fact I am really close to crying. :? It's 5:00 in the morning here and it's the second night I can't sleep anymore. I got paged around 3:00 for some really stupid customer issue ... Oh man.

What's the URL of your site anyway, now that you mentioned it?

Hey, no problem ... same here, BTW. I apologize for my arrogance towards you ... I am really a nice person if I get enough sleep. Or else just keep the coffee flowing and coffeine levels high ... not too high though
jett wrote:who do you work for?
I probably shouldn't mention them here ... They'd kill me if they saw that I provide "free support" here  ... even during my "working hours"

Nontheless I can't sleep now. :?

Oh well ... the Internet is big, and there are many things to try out and to see

Yes, I'm in there from time to time. But you are right, most of the time the channel is empty ...

BTW, as for finding alternatives, check out this page: http://www.linuxeq.com/
Someone (I forgot who, sorry) posted that link here in another thread in the forum.
