XFCE Mint 7 - font problem

Post by bin »

Hi

With all debian and ubuntu distros - including all previous Mints my first action is to install the msttcorefonts (if not already there) I then set Verdana 8 as standard font, disable antialias and set hinting to full and ensure dpi is set to 96. This gives a nice clean text, a bit 'old school windows' for some but gets away from blurry anti alias. This is on LCD screens of various types and is not hardware related

This has always worked and still works in both Jaunty and Xubuntu 9.04. For some reason it will not behave in Gloria and no matter what I do the fonts are horrid.

Does anyone have any views, suggestions etc - and no I don't want to use AA fonts!

Other than that, this has to be the nicest Mint yet!!! Love the login screen.

Try deleting the ~/.fonts.conf file.
