What have you tried on your own and in which way did it fail?

Remember, we learn a lot from our failures.

I may not be the best person to advise you, especially with GRUB, but I'm not 100% sure / is what you should pick.
Instead, try choosing the drive (say, sdb) in the list, not sdb# (sdb1 or whatever).

Is Linux the only thing on the (hard?) drive, or is it a USB flash drive?

That's fine, but I was wondering if you were dealing with other things still on the drive or whether it is blank, freshly formatted.

Do a new install, and when you get to this page:
Image
Click the
Advanced
button and select to install
Grub
to your first drive (should be sda) if you want to choose between booting Mint and Windows.
But if you want or have the ability to boot directly from the USB drive, (which will let you bring along your drive to friends to show off. :-)) you should choose to install
Grub
to the USB. (Which should be the last drive in that list shown in the pull down menu.)

This indicates that grub is in the wrong place. Could you do
sudo fdisk -l
and post the output here?

Sorry about that.
Boot the live CD and run that in a terminal.
