It's a good reminder that just because you run Linux you're not invincible. Don't run as root, don't use dictionary passwords, use some sort of firewall.

There is a huge difference between a server and a desktop computer
Often it is not the server itself but poorly maintained or configured applications running on it
And any desktop/laptop should be behind a router protected by the routers firewall
This way the only way in would be through an application connected to a vicious site...

Yes, I still check it occasionally (http://www.freespire.org), but it is essentially dead, since Xandros has given up the ghost on this purchase, and we can assume they only wanted cnr as a ready to run system..

And they are forgetting that Beos 5x personal edition is a free download, and since they haven't changed it much, makes them the competition to that distribution (of Beos)
