Fast booting OS.
Are there any good, stable fast booting OS's out there?
I just need it to have web browser (with flash) and an IM client for MSN.
Would be better if it worked on a small 2-4gb partition and would have a boot up time of under 10 seconds?
Thanks, Ben.

Looks perfect but I would prefer free and open source. Finding linux mint made me realise that great things can be free.GoustiFruit wrote:Presto ?

EDIT: Seems to be a windows application anyway. I wont be able to install on Mint.

http://www.howtoforge.com/creating-usb- ... unetbootin

--Linux on a stick (USB)
You will also want a persistent one (or do you), that saves your session data
Or you could use a small Linux distribution, like puppy

Re: Fast booting OS.
No, as you can see in the link, you have to contact them. And it's a fast OS, as you wanted. OK?
Re: Fast booting OS.
I, too, would like an OS that boots fast.
It should work out-of-the-box with any and all hardware ever made, go from power-on to desktop in 3.3 seconds, be totally free, be easy for someone else to find for me, should download itself and self-install in my computer without my ever having to read any information or documentation, and should be easy to use.
Also, when I rub my laptop, a genie should appear (in less than 2 seconds, preferably) and grant me three wishes.

Re: Fast booting OS.
Well optimize me, but shouldn't that kind of OS be out of date very soon? I should prefered an OS that could start quicklier than my thought and do everything that I am thinking on. I want to get rid of the keyboard and screen also.
Re: Fast booting OS.
I think that the Mandriva InstantOn is one of those Linux firmwares that gets flashed to a chip and preceedes BIOS in the newfangled motherboards. I do not believe it is a standard downloadable and installable distro.
Re: Fast booting OS.
Well, thanks for your information.
