LG sata optical drive infected with Bluebirds

Hi,
I need help removing 'Bluebirds' from my new LG DVD drive. I've tried hiding it, I've tried using the removal tool from LG through Windows XP running on Virtual box. That didn't work. It keeps coming back, and when it's mounted on my desktop it won't let me unmount it or even open the drive!!!! I do not have permission!!!! Can someone help me to overpower this thing (I need to get to permissions as root I think). Everything I try to do is greyed out.

I'm a relative newbie and I love linux mint, but I can't get rid of this.

OK I know how to manually open the drive, but can anyone help me with removing the @%$$##$% bluebirds software that is infecting it?

Google "LG Bluebirds"

There is a software/firmware update available. Make sure you get the one for your particular model.

Sorry, that is only for windows; doesn't work on linux, even with wine.

Can someone help with a possible command line way to deal with this?
(I've spent the last several hours installing XP on an old HDD in the same computer, only to have it not able to see my ADSL connection!!)

OK, Duh, so I put the firmware update on a memory stick, reconnected the XP HDD, ran the firmware update off the memory stick and rebooted.
This was supposed to remove the bluebirds. When it rebooted I saw the BB symbol in the tray, and right clicked/exit. So far it hasn't showed up again now I'm back on Mint, but I'm still not convinced. Will wait and see!!

It is a windows program, that auto-installs to the drive, so it won't likely show on Linux, now the firmware update is done
--but I would watch out for windows, when it is running the drive.

Yes, it does show up on the linux desktop as a CD mounted in the drive.
Try to open your drive, eject, delete or do anything at all and it says you don't have permission.
In fact it's a total pain in the a#R$%$!

But, now it's GONE.
