The more I think about this, the more I think it's a big win for Canonical, IBM, and Linux in general.

yes; but for the 3 thinkpads I bought over the years the sale and tech people at ibm/lenovo refuse to hear or deal with the fact that I was going to install linux over top of windows. they almost expressed fear!
